Acer Rubrum, or Red Maple, is one of the most widespread deciduous trees in North America. It can grow to be over 100 feet tall
, which makes it an excellent shade tree, but is most well known for its fall color. The eastern United States comes to life at this time of year with the orange, yellow, and red leaves of Red Maples. Their size and shallow root systems make them a less than ideal shade tree for small yards and confined spaces, but with some room to grow Red Maples are great shade trees that offer the most brilliant of fall colors.
