Panicum is a genus of North American Prairie Grasses and has over 400 species.
Also known as Switchgrass, it is extremely adaptable and it’s deep, fibrous root systems can withstand poor soil and drought. It ranges in color from green to blue to some species such as “Shenandoah” that have a reddish hue. They normally grow to be 3-4′ tall and offer a texture that will soften any mixed planting. When in bloom, as they are in Charlotte right now, they are spectacular.
