Amelanchier, known as Serviceberry, can be used as a tree or shrub and has leaves that come out bronze in spring, turn to green in summer, and fade to a brilliant orange-red color in fall. This deciduous plant offers three seasons of interest with fragrant white flowers in spring that give way to small purplish-black fruit in summer, along with its outstanding fall color. It prefers full to partial sun and only grows to 20-25 ft tall, which allows it to fit into any planting. Its resistance to disease makes it a great selection in the Charlotte area.
