The customer needed to replace an old wooden privacy fence and wanted to have something that would maintain the natural feel of a wooden fence, but update it to be current with a more modern look. The first thing we did was to turn the pickets horizontal, which immediately offers a minimalistic look. To further that concept we used 12′ pickets and left 1/2 inch gaps between them. The entire fence was constructed using Cedar materials and we finished by staining it with a semi-transparent natural tone stain that brings more color out of the Cedar as well as protects it from weathering. The final result is a privacy fence that is functional, but also serves as a focal point in the landscaping.
